The Imperial Opa- Round 3!

Alright, here are some photos from last night's practice with The Imperial Opa. It was a blast; I feel like I am a part of their family. Last night was the night that Mr. Tim Mack got the ideas for the upcoming show on April 9th. (Interesting factoid, in the last image, the guy in the petticoat used to work for UWG... He was the guy that would ride the unicycle around campus... Cool guy, and I think he looks better in a skirt like article of clothing than I do, lol.) They had some different things going on, some new acts were revealed. The large hoop thing that they are standing in is part of a "coin spinner" act. It was insane, from what everyone was saying is that is was really heavy and really hard to do, hence why they were pushing Tim and helping him steady the ring in the top image. With this shoot, since I am becoming more familiar with the space and the members, I wanted to capture what it was like being at one of the practices. I wanted to photograph Tim talking to the other members with his clip board (which is never out of his hands for long), the afterwards where the members are just relaxing and getting ready to leave, and the interactions that go on during the practice times. Let me know what you guys think of this initial set of photos and I will try to post more soon.

Spring is here!

Just something pretty I took outside of the studio today. I have had to resize my postcard so that it can be printed at the Pub and Print on campus. I will have that done either today or tomorrow. I am also going to have to get my business card tweaked so that my logo looks a little better. Also, if anyone is wanting to learn how to screenprint tee shirts, I have to print 50 shirts for Mile Train next week and am looking for volunteers to help. I will teach yal how to burn screens and the proper printing techniques as well as how to set the shirts. I might bring food...Might. I figure Arsenic and Old Lace is giving us a good deal on the show, so I'm gonna help out Mile Train. I'm thinking about doing it maybe like Monday or Tuesday since they need the shirts by Friday. Let me know if you want to help. Also, I feel as if I have been neglecting POSE. (I have). I am going to get the photos I did of Kristen printed so that I can put them up on campus. With that being said, I still need people to sit for me so that I can get more variety. Let me know if you would like to sit for me. As for this week, I am going to see The Imperial Opa again. My brother wants to go to practice and I would still like to continue shooting. Thursday I get a touch of a break before Friday's field trip to the High and the Southern Fried Sideshow at the 5 spot. Everyone should come, it is a night of comedy, music, and sideshow antics. Only $10 at the door and it starts at 9pm. Since we are in Atlanta, Kristen, Jamie, and I are going to head to Little 5 Points after the High for lunch at possibly The Vortex, and the spend the rest of the day there hanging out and shooting some, then 9pm is the show. Come one, come all, JOIN THE FUN!!! Now, after all that craziness I still have my niece's birthday party on Sunday (skating her I come, lol). But that is how the rest of my week will go...hectic as always. So for now, Happy Shooting!

Postcard-Final!

Above is what I think is the final version of my postcard. I feel like it is polished and simple, while still creating some interest and shows what my show is about. I am pretty happy with it. :) Thank you everyone for your input in helping me narrow down my design. I feel like my final design is perfect. :) I will be putting my artist statement on here as soon as I finish it so that I can get some feedback on it, so be looking for it! lol Again, thank you guys for the help.

The Last Artist Statement You Will Ever Need.

My friend sent me a link to an Artist Statement Generator. It's really funny. You guys should try it. Just a little fun for this Tuesday. Here is what mine said...

"Hayley Warner's Artist Statement

Through my work I attempt to examine the phenomenon of Frylock as a methaphorical interpretation of both Diane Arbus and Photographing.

What began as a personal journey of F*CKism has translated into images of steak and ear that resonate with caucasion people to question their own greenness.

My mixed media tree embody an idiosyncratic view of Zolophd, yet the familiar imagery allows for a connection between Anna Nicole Smith, trees and steaks.

My work is in the private collection of Spak who said 'EXCLAMATION!!, that's some real furry Art.'

I am a recipient of a grant from Folsom Prison where I served time for stealing mugs and tie clips from the gift shop of The High. I have exhibited in group shows at McDonalds and Bobick, though not at the same time. I currently spend my time between my kitchen and Berlin."

Try it for a good laugh. Happy Shooting!

Postcard back- revise. :)

Updates

Ok, I don't know if this is exactly what Cristian had in mind, but I did try to follow his advice. (and thank you for the feedback and for it being so prompt! :) ) I did a different crop on image 3 and 4 and I changed a few things on the back. Let me know what ya think and how to improve!

Postcard design

Here is the new and improved postcard design I have come up with. I have simplified it some by removing some images from the front, I added the show title to the front as well, and I used a different font for the smaller text on the back. Gimme some feedback! I need to know ASAP any changes so that I can get it printed. Thanks!
