Wedding stuff

Since I have not heard anything back from UGA so far and I have a wedding coming up in May to shoot, I thought I would post my new price list. I am proud of it, though I feel I can continue to work on it to improve upon it. But I am proud of it none the less. Haven't done much in the realm of shooting here recently, been a bit to busy. More focused on getting my stuff together. Hope to hear from UGA soon. But I guess that is all for now. Just a small update.

Still Editing.

It is true, I am still working on the photos from the Southern Fried Sideshow. Here are some photos that I just finished. I love looking through and finding new photos that I did notice on my first quick look. These were misc. moments that made me smile. Not much else to say...I'm still holding out hope that I can go back to school next fall, looking kind of like a no as of right now though. Still looking for call for entries to enter some new work into shows and literary books, and suggestions, let me know. Nothing really happening as of recently, just wanted to share.
Happy shooting!

Southern Fried Sideshow

Well, welcome back friends. How is everyone? As you can see, I am back to my old favorite subject....Sideshows. I absolutely love the thrills, the chills, and just the overall atmosphere you get while attending the Southern Fried Sideshow. It comes complete with freaks, geeks, and just all around strange goodness. Ever seen someone eat fire? I have. Ever seen someone swallow a sword? Been there, seen that. Just to prove it, here are a few photos from my last visit to the Southern Fried Sideshow. It was not only amazing to be there and to see the freakery, but editing the photos brings it all rushing right back. The smell of the fire, the warmth of the performers, and the excitement of the crowd...All remembered quite vividly. Sometimes editing the photos bring more excitement and chills. For example, the last image here was quite a surprise to me. If you look closely at the flame, it resembles a dragon going into the performer's, Jay "Sinder" Becker's, mouth. Another great example would be the photo of the contact juggler, Jamie Warner, where you cannot see his face due to his arm yet if you look into his ball you can see him. Quite exciting to see something so unique in what might have been over looked as a failed photo. I hope this post and these photos will motivate more people to step out of their comfort zone and into the world of the Contemporary Sideshow. After photographing this on November 12, 2011 I have decided that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I cannot see myself doing anything outside of the photography world and more specifically the documentary photography world. This is where I belong and it feels so right to be doing it. Let me know what you guys think about the new photos.

Update: October 2011

Hello everyone who still reads this,
I am writing to show a few of my new photos I have worked on. It has happened, I have entered the world of wedding photography. I am assisting the Famous William Company with some weddings this season. I am learning a new style of photography and am improving on my social skills.....slowly......very slowly. This past wedding was a blast! Not only did I shoot an amazing bride and groom, but I got to do so with 2 amazing photographers that I love dearly. Ms. Emma Elaine Dobbs and Mr. William Hogan. Above are a few photos that I took before the wedding began. Two of them are of Emma and the last one is the groom's shoe. He wore the "something blue" and it was just perfect. Outside of weddings I haven't been that active with my photography. I feel my artistic energy building up, but I don't have time to do much outside of sleep, work, and watch the dog. I have decided that I am going to start looking at grad schools. I am ready to go back and get my masters so I can try to get a job as a professor. For any one who says "those who can't, teach." I don't care. I know I can make art, but as a professor I could have some job security and a constant pay with the possibility to make my art since I would be in a semi- conducive environment for art. Where I am now is redundancy. I work 5 days a week at a job that has nothing to do with my degree. I am ready to put those 6 years of college to use. UGA/SCAD/AI, look out, cause here I come!!!! Now in other news, I am trying to get some business from musicians. I sent a message to a musician that I absolutely freaking love saying that if he comes my way to let me know cause I would love to photography him. Here's hoping he heads out this way! I am trying to update and trouble shoot my website some....and doing so unsuccessfully... (thank you wix.com). Now, I believe that is all for now. I am hoping to start updating more often as I shoot more weddings and maybe some more carnies. Well, for now I will leave you with a quote from a friend of mine, Ms. Shannon Martin. "It might take logical minded people to put the lines on the Earth, but it takes artistic people like us to fill them with color."
Happy shooting,

Summer update

It has been almost 1 month since graduation and I haven't touched my camera since. :( I have been busy with my new job and have not had a memory card for my Nikon or film for my other cameras. I have the money for a new camera and a few lenses and maybe a flash. I am planning on getting a Nikon d200. I have met some really cool people working at the mall which has given me confidence to continue doing what I love. :) But anyways, I just wanted to update in case anyone ever checks this anymore. Happy Shooting.
