Printer Color Profiles

Ok, no photos right now. I am attempting to print for my show and it is just not working. I had to get ITS twice because the parental locks on the Macs and because someone paused the pro 9800 and an administrator has to unlock them. So after all that I started printing and the printer is just wanting to print green. I have gone through 4 different profiles and very little changes. I have even manually adjusted things like the amount of cyan and yellow in the prints and nothing changed. Any advice on which color profile working well for COLOR prints? And yes, I am using the STYLUS PRO 9800, not the little baby printers. I am using Premium Luster paper as well, in case that does something to the color. I have tried Adobe RGB(1998), Generic RGB, Wide Gamut RGB, ProPhoto RGB. Generic did the best, but I'm still not happy with it. Also, I tried letting the printer decide, still no luck. Help me out!

  2. Not being there in person makes it challenging but knowing Macs be certain to specify your settings in multiple areas. A few thoughts to check that may or may not help:

First with your file open go under the 'File' menu and to 'Page Setup' and be sure the correct Printer and Paper is specified.

Then once you do the command-P to bring up the printer dialogue window and check/give the following a try:
    • Correct 'Printer' is specified -again-
    • leave the options below the thumbnail image (Match Print Colors, Gamut Warning, Show Paper White) all clicked 'on'
    • Do print at actual size, don't scale in the printing dialogue, have your file at exact size
    • Have right column 'Color Management' and have 'Document' as the selected option, not Proof.
    • Leave first dropdown set to 'Photoshop Manages Colors"
    • Make sure Printer Profile has your Premium Lustre paper selected
    • Rendering Intent set to 'Perceptual' with 'Black Point Compensation clicked 'on'

Click 'Print' and let the next dialogue box come up.
    • Specify the correct printer -again-
    • On the center pop-up ('Layout' I think is its default state) change it to 'Print Settings' and make sure correct paper type is specified -again-
    • Make sure Ink is set to 'color'
    • Under Mode select 'Advanced Settings' and within the Print Quality pop-up select 'Photo - 1440 dpi' and leave 'High Speed' checked on

Go back to center pop-up of the print dialogue and change from 'Print Settings' to 'Color Management' and turn on 'No Color Adjustment'

Click on final big 'Print' button in lower right corner and talk to the printer gently and with plenty of kind words as it works. And hopefully that'll work fine. Good luck!
